Virgil Abloh is continuing to keep foot on necks, and is keeping his reign on the industry—two fifty dollar bills.
As NY Times writer described, Abloh is about to become the most powerful Black executive at the most powerful luxury goods group in the world.
As of today, LVMH has acquired 60% of Off-White, and per Abloh’s excitedly IG post.
This is a huge deal.
And as part of the new deal, Mr. Abloh will be taking on a new and bigger role within LVMH.
What does this mean?
Virgil will now be working across LVMH’s different categories:
Wine and Spirits (think: Dom Perignon, Hennessy)
Hospitality (famous restaurant Cipriani)
For Virgil this means, a seat at the table.
- An opportunity to bring his keen fashion eye and his black voice and excellence to the forefront. A smart move for LVMH.
- The culture being represented and continuously moving the needle and setting trends at this huge, well known and very rich entity that is LVMH.
In his IG post and in press about this news and journey for hisself, Virgil quoted “for the dreamers”. Indeed.
Virgil is giving reasons why it’s important to keep on dreaming and never forgetting to bring the culture and your own with you when you’ve arrived at the table.
