InClub’s 2023 Oscars Best Picture Predictions

The 2023 Oscar’s best picture predictions are rolling in. The Academy Awards, aka The Oscars, is considered a prestigious award in the entertainment industry worldwide. Though talent shouldn’t be based on if you have an award or not, it is nice to have a conversation piece(s) on your mantel, right?! In all seriousness having an Oscar can open up doors for some of those who win, whether it’s more opportunities or financial or both. Due to the influence the Oscars hold, it’s no surprise prediction buzz is afoot. 

Many movies are potential contenders, and there’s no shade being thrown over here, but this list is based on movies seen, and the ones would like to see.

And The Predictions Are…


Devotion tells the harrowing true story of two elite US Navy fighter pilots during the Korean War. Their heroic sacrifices would ultimately make them the Navy’s most celebrated wingmen.

Avatar: The Way of Water is set more than a decade after the events of the first film. It tells the story of the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri, and their kids) and the threats they endure.


A reclusive English teacher suffers from severe obesity. However, he tries to connect with his estranged teenage daughter for one last chance at redemption.



Maren, a young woman, learning how to survive on the margins of society, meets Lee, an intense drifter. Together they embark on a liberating road odyssey, searching for identity and chasing beauty.



Inspired by true events and follows General Nanisca, who must train the next generation of warriors and prepare them for a battle to save their kingdom from an enemy determined to destroy their way of life.



The movie is a hilarious and big-hearted sci-fi action adventure in which an exhausted Chinese American woman (Michelle Yeoh) can’t seem to finish her taxes.


Almost There


Two siblings who run a California horse ranch discover something wonderful and sinister in the skies above. The owner of an adjacent theme park tries to profit from the mysterious, otherworldly phenomenon.



Pete “Maverick” Mitchell (Tom Cruise) must train a detachment of Top Gun graduates for a mission unlike any other.



Pádraic and Colm, lifelong friends, find themselves at a crossroads when Colm unexpectedly ends their friendship. Assisted by his sister Siobhán and the troubled young islander Dominic, Pádraic tries to repair the relationship, refusing to accept no. His repeated efforts only strengthen Colm’s resolve, and when he delivers a desperate ultimatum, things rapidly escalate.



In this fresh adventure, the intrepid detective finds himself on a lavish Greek island, but his arrival and why he’s there is only the beginning of the mystery.



Sammy Fabelman falls in love with movies after his parents take him to “The Greatest Show on Earth.” With the help of his camera, Sammy starts making his own films at home—to his mother’s delight.
