Update: DMX dies at 50 after a drug overdose-induced heart attack.

DMX remains on life support as his family weighs tough decisions to remove him from life support.

“We ask that you please keep Earl/DMX and us in your thoughts, wishes, and prayers, as well as respect our privacy as we face these challenges,”

The family of the rapper (born Earl Simmons) wrote in a statement to People magazine.

Medical, neurological tests are said to determine the level of brain function. And in this case, it will decide if DMX will pull through.

DMX’s family says that the results will be crucial in deciding the beloved rapper’s fate, which doesn’t look good.

“DMX is currently on life support and in a coma,” Nakia Walker, DMX manager, explained on Tuesday, April 6th.

“There are multiple people with inaccurate information about his well-being, and it is not helpful and productive. We appreciate your prayers and support.”

DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, was rushed to White Plains Hospital on the night of April 2nd after suffering a drug overdose that triggered a fatal heart attack.

DMX is in a “vegetative state” after his drug overdose, his former manager shared.

Additionally, Walker told BuzzFeed News that the “What’s My Name” performer is “still in the same condition — in a vegetative state, [with] lung and brain failure and no brain activity.”
