Sydney Sweeney’s Boobs Are Just Not a Statement

Many people know Sydney Sweeney as a talented and well-known actress, but to others Sweeney is a “sex icon”. Despite her talent, many people can’t seem to take their eyes off of her boobs. It’s to the point where people are now questioning if Sweeney is bringing back the era of boobs with the “death” of the Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL). The truth, though, is that Sweeney’s boobs are not a political or fashion statement. They are simply just boobs. The politicization and fascination with how she displays her body is weird and demeaning to the work she puts towards being a talented actress.

As a woman, I can admit when someone has big breasts and I can admire them. At the same time. I will never use them as a tool to sexualize an individual.

Sweeney has touched upon the sexualization of her body in previous interviews. In an interview with Varietyshe said, “People feel connected and free to be able to speak about me in whatever way they want, because they believe that I’ve signed my life away. That I’m not on a human level anymore, because I’m an actor.” To be an actor does not equate to signing your life away, and it’s unfortunate that Sweeney feels this way. Not only is she a human; she is not asking to be a sex icon.

Sydney Sweeney’s Body Is Not a Trend

Over the last few years, big butts were in, and there haven’t been many young celebrities known for having naturally big breasts. When you look up “celebrities with big boobs” on the internet, older women pop up. This includes Kate Upton, Beyoncé, Salma Hayek, and Sofía Vergara. With influencers and celebrities reverting back to a “clean girl” aesthetic, BBL’s are allegedly going out. As a result, people are wondering if Sweeney is pushing for a new trend of big boobs.

To look at any individual’s body parts as a trend is absurd. Women of color, particularly Black women, have been the subject of their body parts being politicized and used as trends for years by white women. But that is not what Sweeney is doing. She is simply existing and facing the backlash that comes with existing in the female body.

There is no secret agenda behind Sydney Sweeney’s display of her body. And she is, yet, another example of the hyper-fixation around women’s bodies in our society. Sweeney isn’t bringing back boobs. Nor is she bringing sexy back. And as my friend said, “They are just titties.”
