1.     at right angles to a horizontal plane; in a direction, or having an alignment, such that the top is directly above the bottom.

I know what your thinking. What does the word vertical have anything to do with dating? Especially for Christians. I personally heard about this about a year ago. I already knew what it was but this was the first time I had heard a name tagged to it. I was listening to a video about relationships taught by a panel a transformation church in Tulsa Oklahoma led by Pastor Michael Todd. He mentioned how he often did pre-marital and courtship counseling and one of the conditions he had for couples he was counseling was that they agree to date vertically. Yes vertically is what he said. This mean that everything that they did together had to be able to be done vertical. Of course with the clear guidelines of boundaries this allowed for couples to stay accountable especially Christian couples who are avoid sex before marriage. As a single, I definitely think that vertical dating Is important. Vertical dating allows us to always be eye to eye causing for an intimacy that can only come by a real spiritual and emotion connection not just physical. As a Christian, keeping your relationship pure before marriage is super important, I personally believe it sets the tone for the marriage. When you conduct yourself with integrity before the marriage, it makes it easier to act with integrity after which can avoid some many other detrimental issues that can come about once married. Of course there are technicalities with dating vertically but putting yourself in the position to even give yourself boundaries will bleed over into your spirit that there are some things you don’t want to do vertically either but setting the boundary is the first step! God wants us to honor him in everything that we do this includes dating.

Are you vertical dating?
