It is not easy to be vocal about our concerns, our doubts and our fears. We know there is power in the tongue and that we overcome by our testimony, but being a celebrity and being vocal can be very dangerous. It could mean losing fans, offending people, being judged harshly and even worse, shut you up!

Award winning vocalist Kierra Sheard knows all about that and more all too well but she was brave enough to get vocal with us in our exclusive interview, where she gets vocal about her opinion on singing at Donald Trump’s inaugural, why she was ready to quit singing all together and so much more.  Kierra is truly down to earth, someone who has not allowed her success or her doubts to define her. His voice says it all, so enjoy:

Kierra Sheard; believer, singer, designer, daughter, Grammy nominated …Fill us in on what we missed and catch us up on what’s new with Kierra Sheard.

To fill you in, it’s hard to say that I’m filling you in, because what you know is already my life. Family, work, and church.  I’m currently working on new music. I’m in the studio with Claude Kelly, Chuck Harmony, and Harmony Samuels. I’m always working on the clothing line, getting the designs for the curvy woman. I’m always traveling, and I’m literally gone every week unless it’s a break for me. So it’s family, work, and church. Born in Detroit, daughter of the iconic vocalist Karen Clark Sheard, tell us a little about what that was like growing up.

It was fun, my parents are incredible, a lot of people put it out there as if I come from a single parent home. They often highlight my mom, but I have to honor my father.  We’ve been blessed to have our father there with us, so it’s been a blessing. It’s been fun. It’s been exciting to have one parent who is a stickler for education, and another parent who is excited about the arts. It kept us balanced! Having the lessons from my parents, they both raised me to be a woman of faith. To be, Integral in our dealings, and an educated individual.  There has been a little bit of pressure being the daughter of Karen Clark Sheard.  In regards to my vocal performance, some expect me to do what my mother can do! Fortunately, she is a beast! I can’t quite do all of what she can do!  It’s a healthy pressure though because it challenges me to go for the grain; and to reach for the highest things that are out there.  It’s a blessing, it’s exciting, It’s fun, and sometimes it can be irritating. I say irritating because I can’t always say because I have to speak with the fear if things being put on social media. It’s Fun though.
