There are times when to understand or appreciate something so genuinely exceptional, you have to had witnessed the absolute worse. There is no question the lack of representation of black people in high profile roles in Hollywood has been as of late, well documented. By the year 2016, only 32 African Americans have even won an Oscar, and only four times was it for leading Actor and only once for best actress.

Have you seen Star Wars The Last Jedi?

It is the latest addition in the epic Skywalker saga in the Star Wars universe.

The movie is visually appealing, full of beautiful color choice, unique looking creatures, fun new planets to explore, and thought-provoking scenes between our heroes and newcomers.  For those of you who are late to the party on the Millennium Falcon, the previous film Star Wars The Force Awakens brought us back to the galaxy far, far, away. Where a new hero and new antagonist had emerged with whom the force has become awaken in.

I landed in San Francisco at 12:30pm pacific time. I take an Uber to the Peerspace studio I booked in South of Market. If you are from the Bay Area, you know what I only found out upon my arrival, and that is, that SOM might just be the worst area in San Francisco I could have picked. I get inside the studio, only to feel like Aston Kutcher had punked me. The photos online looked a lot better than the space. But the show must go on and thanks to my bomb make-up artist Angelica things begin to look up. Or so I thought...

My natural hair journey was met with much resistance. I never thought in a million years I would stop getting relaxers. In fact, I took a pretty adamant stance against it. I had been getting them since around age five. Then one summer my brother and sister-in-love came to visit and I was floored by my sister’s beautiful and healthy hair. I asked her secret and she told me she had gone natural. She was wearing it straight at the time, but said she experienced tremendous growth since her transition. I was skeptical about how my hair would look both in its natural state and straightened without a relaxer, but she really encouraged me. “Sis, you don’t need it,” she told me. That next summer, I decided to give it a go.

However, they’re stuck, because they keep repeating the same mistakes hoping for different results. This is why I’ve decided to present you with a formula – 21stdating rules that will get you the girl. In this article you’ll find 5 reasons why you’re striking out in the dating sphere and winning at the friendzone. I want you to graduate past group hangouts and actually take that crush on that moonlit stroll. Here are my 5 Reasons Why You’re Not Getting a Second Date. 5 movies that are too perfect to be remade

Hollywood is either playing it safe or fresh out of ideas because every year we are presented with a hand full of remakes. Many of them unwarranted, unwanted and end up being flat out disappointing. The only thing worse than a bad remake is a bad remake to a classic that should have never been touch in the first place.  You do not see Nike reinventing the swoosh. You do not see Ihop changing from pancakes to something like burgers… Hold up real quick someone just text me.

This Presidential term feels like a joke that started off funny but  went on way too long. There is click bait and headlines that used to push personal agendas and raise ratings, yes! But then there are the times when you have to see the vile, insensitive, blatant disregard for others that has become the hallmark of the President and his minions.

Bullets ricocheted off of each locker – each pelt of the metal echoed across the crowded hallways. Each scream, each whisper, each plea for mercy echoed within that small space. We can turn the channel. We can turn a blind eye. However, we can’t stop the questions – we can’t stop the gnawing at our souls that dares us to do more than simply say a quick prayer and add a somber social media status. We’re challenged by their stories and we’re changed by their lives. Or are we?
